As you know Borrow is a mixture of Modern (purchased from a wholesaler), Made (handcrafted by a Borrow craftsman or local artisan), or Antique (antique purchased locally and rented “as is” or after re-upholstery or re-imagination.) So follow along a little deep dive into our Builds Process as we embark on a journey of making custom dining height booths!
Step 1: Plan Presentation
Every Builds Project with Borrow starts with an idea! Our ideas come through a Slack channel called "Creative Submissions." These submissions need to include the idea, typically an inspire pic, and the purpose/function of the piece. Whether you are Creative Director or a part-time installer; anyone can submit an idea!
This particular build needed to custom fit an 8ft dining table.
Step 2: Work Order + Sketch is created!
Work Orders help us project manage and price out the piece ! Some pieces require a more detailed sketch or we may lean on a local craftsman to help and that is determined during this process.
Step 3: Supplies are ordered, the project is added to the builds calendar and the work begins!
For this particular project, we decided to source the wooden bench portion of the banquette from Seldom Standard (Bill is in our building and also helped with the product sketch!) We love being able to utilize local craftsmen when our schedule is looking very tight and we have a tight deadline.
