Dear Friends, As some of you may have heard, I received an alarming phone call from the Cleveland Fire Department on the evening of Friday, September 27th that the Borrow showroom and headquarters had caught on fire. We are extremely fortunate that nobody was present in the building and nobody was injured. To date, we still do not know what caused the fire. We are working with investigation teams to get a better understanding as to how this happened. l have learned that the fire damage was extreme and the space Borrow called home for the past three years has been deemed a total loss. Over the course of the last few weeks, many friends, family, clients, and colleagues have graciously reached out to me offering support. That support has arrived in the way of personal notes, flowers, and yes, even wine(!) I cannot begin to thank you enough for this generosity. Some of our wonderful supporters have offered to make monetary donations and even organize fundraisers. I have thought about this, and politely decline; Borrow carried and and continues to carry the proper insurance. However, if you do feel compelled to provide monetary support, I ask that you consider making a donation directly to one of Borrow’s two favorite charities; Boys Hope Girls Hope of Northeast Ohio or Cleveland’s Chapter of A Special Wish Foundation. While this unforeseen event has caused great challenges, I remain steadfast in not only continuing Borrow, but making it the best it can be – for many years to come. In fact, since we received news of the fire, our wonderful team hasn’t stopped. We are diligently working to fulfill all of our 2019 jobs and we are busy scheduling for new jobs in 2020, and beyond. We didn’t come this far to let a fire stop us. Borrow will have a new home, there will be a party, and yes, you will all be invited(!) Please stay tuned for more updates as we move past this unfortunate event and shift our focus on being the best Borrow we can be. Thank you kindly. Ann King |
